Breaking News Re: Pending DES Breast Cancer Cases #keepLillyhonest

31 Jan

During a status conference held on January 28, 2013, Judge Bowler ordered Eli Lilly and the plaintiffs to attend an Alternative Dispute Resolution Hearing, or mediation, set for March 11, 2013.

This is an opportunity for Eli Lilly to return to the table and fulfill its prior promise of good faith mediation and compensate the DES daughters fairly. Now that the first DES breast cancer case has settled only after the second day at trial, it should set the precedence for the valuation and resolution of remaining 72 cases pending in Boston federal court and the District of Columbia.

Eli Lilly’s corporate attitude towards this opportunity — either to continue to pay millions to lawyers and drag dying DES daughters through years of unnecessary litigation, or to settle and end this tragedy — remains to be seen.

But it won’t end when the current cases are resolved. There are many more of us and we are walking time bombs!

This is true. But Lilly needs to honor its promise to settle the current DES breast cancer cases. By stalling on its promise, the company is showing how it lacks honor.

As many DES Sons exists as Daughters. There has been almost no investigation on the effect of DES 46XY fetus’ or the subsequent impact on them as they age. There is an inordinate number of individuals that identify as transgendered or transsexuals that were exposed to DES in utero and there is an extremely high number of 46XY’s with uro-genital defects as well. When are the DES sons going to get acknowledgement from the medical community? As difficult as it has been to get anyone to acknowledge that DES Daughters were affected, it is that hard times 1000 for DES Sons. I am grateful to see that finally there has been some glimmer of hope for the females, now it is high time for the sons.

DES Info agrees that DES Sons need research, help, and attention. We welcome the sons to contact DES Info about a guest post to help raise awareness about their issues. Thank you!
