DES Son Speaks About Damage – #keepLillyHonest

19 Jan

DES Info has always welcomed DES Sons and invited their feedback.

DES Sons are often overlooked or ignored by the government, researchers, and media. Yet they suffered from their DES exposure, too!

Below is a heartbreaking comment from the “Eli Lilly – Fess Up on DES!” petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/555/889/673/eli-lilly-fess-up-on-des/

FROM A DES SON:

There’s been a lot said about the effects of DES on the DES daughters, but very little about what it did to the DES sons. The official CDC position is that it had no effects whatsoever apart from an increased risk of “noncancerous epidydymal cysts”. DES is a potent chemical castration agent; just 3mg per day being enough to fully chemically castrate adult men with prostate cancer. The starting dose where DES was used as a treatment for miscarriage was 5mg per day, so throughout the time their mothers ware being given the stuff, a typical DES son was being exposed to more than enough of the drug to completely shut down their testicles and suppress all testosterone production. Since testosterone is crucial for driving normal male development, I wanted to see what effects not having that hormone for a large part of the pregnancy had on the DES sons. For the last year I’ve been trying to find out as much as I can about them, and based on what I’ve seen, the CDC is telling a whopping pack of lies. There are 4 main effects that seem to be really common among DES sons: * infertility * physical intersex conditions such as undescended testes, hypospadias and micropenis * lifelong problems with hypogonadism and with endocrine function in general * psychological problems, including seemingly non gender related ones such as ADHD and depression. There seem to be very high rates of gender-related psychological problems too, to the point where quite a few of the DES sons I’ve chatted with online over the last year identify fully as women and have undergone reassignment (this has confirmed a suspicion I’ve had, that exposure before birth to medicines containing artificial hormones is a major cause of transsexuality – and is probably the real reason why rates of male infertility have skyrocketed in recent years too). Unfortunately, especially among people from the DES era there’s a great deal of shame associated with intersex conditions and hostility towards people suffering from them, with the result that very few DES sons are willing to openly admit to or talk about how they’ve been affected by their DES exposure. This petition is a good example of that: there’s a lot of comments from DES daughters and even a few from DES grandsons, but how many comments from DES sons do you see on here?

I read this as well…thanks for posting! DES Sons have obviously suffered too, but in silence.

If estrogen can cause emphatic changes in what once appeared to be a 50+ year old male, why would anyone think, for even a split second, that it wouldn’t also affect the development of a male offspring in utero. It’s silly to think that this discussion would ever take place. Were pregnancy not so endeared in our society and issues dealing with anything remotely related to ‘sex’ not so taboo, this would have been a collective effort a long time ago.

It is extremely important for DES Sons to be included in the discussion about DES. Researchers and the media need to pay more attention to the sons. Thank you for writing in. We don’t often hear from the sons, but we want to. We support you!

ONE reason that DES Sons and DES Transgendered have been “silent” is because DES Action has intentionally left them out of the conversation. ALL DES Sons are welcome to join DES Sons…and all DES sons with Transgender are welcome to join DES Trans in yahoo groups. You are NOT alone !

Since when ? I’m a DES Daughter, a cancer survivor, and when I inquired about DES Sons and DES Trans I stopped receiving your posts. I’m working with these populations to improve visibility and begin lawsuits so they too can be helped, and in my experience, DES Action and Info have NOT been helpfull or accepting.

You are officially being invited to write a guest post so you can help educate others. Please accept this invitation in the spirit it is being given. It is a positive, sincere invitation and the choice is yours to accept it. If you want to write the guest post, let DES Info know via the Contact page.

Thank you for the invitation. I’ll try this again, and hope that the OTHER half of the DES exposed; Sons/Transgendered are finally accepted into the community of DES exposed !

Please spread the word that guest posts are welcome. The best way to spread awareness is by sharing stories and supporting everyone in the DES community. There shouldn’t be in-fighting or negativity, as that is what the drug companies want.

EXACTLY what i’ve been saying for years ! WE are all one; DES exposed in utero and damaged by our exposure ! If we work together, we can get what we need from the drug manufacturers.
